Dr. Andrew Benesh, Ph.D. LMFT

Andrew Benesh began volunteering as a camp counselor with Siblings Forever in 2013. After two summers of volunteering, Andrew wanted to be more involved with Siblings Forever, and became a board member. Andrew went on to serve as Camp Co-Director for two years and Board Chair for two years. Andrew also serves on the recruitment and camp planning committees.



Andrew is an Assistant Director of Mercer University School of Medicine's Marriage and Family Therapy Program, and licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia. In this role he trains master's level therapists and teaches medical students about how to work collaboratively with mental health providers. He also provides outpatient therapy through the Mercer Family Therapy Center and Mercer Medicine in Macon, GA. His research focuses on reducing adverse outcomes for children and adolescents in foster care through foster parent training and community-based early interventions. He has previously worked providing treatment services in psychiatric hospitals, crisis stabilization centers, and in-home therapy agencies. Andrew also serves as the Vice President for the Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and consults with family service organizations in Middle Georgia to improve support for families and youth impacted by violence and child welfare involvement.
